GAP ANALYSIS

This calculation is used to produce the feedback reports in the seminars noted in the previous section.  The value of the feedback to the participants is the clarity it provides in relation to the seminar learning process.  Each participant can look at his or her feedback report and know precisely where to focus the actions he or she needs to take to change behavior for improved job perfromance.

To assure that the participants are able to analyze and understand their feedback, time is taken in the classroom setting to familiarize them with the basic calculations.  Working in pairs, they actually complete all of those calculations.

After the reports are distributed to the participants, they are guided to look for their biggest numbers in the sector labeled Priority Index.  That number identifies the behavior that the people they included in their data base want them to change the most.  That number can be described as the behavior with the biggest Gap between Ideal and Current that also is Important to the respondents.  The following is an example of a Gap Analysis question.  It is taken from a real questionnaire used in an actual seminar
